How to Configure the Carrier Management Setup for UPS MI?
The UPS setup is used for using UPS MI services, as well.
On the "carrier management" screen, there are some parameters that exist for UPS MI.
UPS-MI - Use Zone-Based Rating?: This parameter should be active for UPS-MI services. If this parameter is active, the related carrier rate is matched by using the zone filter for domestic and international orders.
UPS-MI Cost Center?: UPS provides you with this info that is the ID of the cost center closest to your warehouse. It is used for the UPS Mail Innovations service.
UPS-MI Default Package Type: Define the package type to be used for Mail Innovations service whenever a package type is not selected.
UPS-MI - Enable label print when rate does not exist?: This parameter should be disabled in order to generate labels with rates only. When enabled, if there is no record is found for the order from the custom carrier rate, the labels will not be generated.
How to Import Custom Carrier Rates?
The "Custom Carrier Rate" screen is used for this operation. The custom rates are managed on this screen with carrier, weight, zone, package type information.
The "custom carrier rates" is created by the customer, this records can be uploaded by using the "Import Custom Carrier Rate" button.
After importing the custom carrier rates, all the rate and generate label methods use the custom carrier rates if the selected shipment method is related to the "UPS MI services".
- For Domestic Shipment Rates, the zone field has to be filled based on the UPS Zone Chart. (You can get the UPS zone chart via: https://www.ups.com/us/es/shipping/zones-and-rates/48-contiguous-states.page)
- For International Shipment Rates, the zone field has to be filled based on the country-zone match. (Country-based zone information exists on the Custom Carrier Rate Template)
Which zone is related to my shipment order?
For domestic orders,
After getting the origin warehouse's zone chart info from the UPS, this chart has to be imported by the Logiwa table, as well. (This operation should be done by the Logiwa support team)
Logiwa uses this zone chart -during the label generation- to find which "zone" will be used for the selected shipment order. (Origin postal code and destination postal code is used to find related zone)
After finding the related "zone" for the shipment order, while getting labels from UPS MI, the "custom carrier rate" records are filtered by using this "zone" info and returned "rate" is used for the shipment order.
For international orders,
After getting the origin warehouse's zone chart info from UPS, this chart has to be imported by a Logiwa table, as well. (This operation should be done by the Logiwa support team)
Logiwa uses this zone chart -during the label generation- to find which "zone" will be used for the selected shipment order. (Origin country code and destination country code are used to find related zone)
After finding the related "zone" for the shipment order, while getting labels from UPS MI, the "custom carrier rate" records are filtered by using this "zone" info and returned "rate" is used for the shipment order.
The package type column is used for what purpose?
On the UPS system, there are some package types used on the UPS-MI service. These package types are defined in Logiwa, as well.
On the "custom carrier rate" records, the "package type" field is one of the mandatory fields. This field is used for finding the rates -during the label generation- if the selected "package type" has "UPS-MI package type" info.
For example, if the user uses the "upsmi_type1" as the package type, Logiwa tries to find the custom carrier rate by using the "Irregulars" filter on the "Package Type" column.
On this case,
- Custom carrier rates are searched with the zone, weight and package type filters.
But, if the selected "package type" does not have "UPS-MI package type" info, the "package type" field is not used for finding the rates from the "custom carrier rate" table.
For example, if the user uses the "upsmi_type3" as the package type, Logiwa tries to find the custom carrier rate without using the "Irregulars" filter on the "Package Type" column.
On this case,
- Custom carrier rates are searched with the zone, weight filters.
