According to your needs, you might need to add some additional items to shipment orders, such as promotion items, gift items, some necessary items based on your requirements, instruction documents, etc. Such additional items are categorized as “Promotion/Insert Items” in Logiwa.
As we all know promotion/insert items are not directly purchased by customers. They are added to orders and be shipped by warehouses. Logiwa offers you the automation rules function to add your additional(Promotion/Insert) products to orders. We recommend you to look at this article "Add SKU action" regarding how to add SKU to orders. Thanks to this automation rule action, you can add additional items to orders and the additional SKU/items are processed with the rest of the order items (picking, sorting & packing if needed). That's all you have to do!
In some cases, some promotion/insert items are not needed to be picked since they are already in the packing station waiting to be packed. Warehouse staffs just need to put these items into shipping packages. Even though the automation rule adds insert/promotion items to orders these items' picking tasks are created and waited to be picked. If you want to eliminate the picking process for these promotion/insert items Welcome to Logiwa! Logiwa is here to respond to your business requirements. Please keep reading the article below and learn how to manage this process!
How to Manage the Promotion Items Without Picking Process
There are 4 required steps to manage the promotion items without picking process.
- The Promotion Item's item type should be a promotion. If you do not see this item type please contact the Support Team then they will set it up for you.
- The Promotion item should be added using the automation rule whose criteria you set.
- A specified warehouse job type should be defined by the support team based on your company requirement. Please contact the Support Team then they will set it up for you.
- The warehouse job type should be automated in the batch job creation process.
Let's dive into the steps in detail.
1-Firstly we need to create the promotion/insert items with the "promotion" item type.
Screen Path: WMS → Setup → Item Setup
2- We need to add the promotion type item via "Add SKU action" on the automation rule. You can take a look at all automation rules examples via this link. Please do not forget that you can set a rule however you want.
Screen Path: Entity → Automation Rule
3- You need to have a specified job type for this process. If you want to use this feature in your warehouse, you can contact our support team and they will set it up for you. If your company package covers this function they will provide you the customized job type to manage promotion/insert items without picking process.
4- You need to have a batch job schedule or create a batch job process manually on the Warehouse Job Processing screen by hitting the Create Batch Job button. Unless the batch job is created the promotion/insert item without picking process will not be performed. Accordingly, you need to create the appropriate batch job.
Screen Path: WMS → Operations → Warehouse Job Processing
Manually created batch jobs managed as below; Scheduled jobs seems below;
You can learn how to set a schedule for your jobs from this link.
After the jobs are assigned to orders the promotion/insert items are automatically picked to the default packing station and order statuses are updated to partially picked. You are ready to pick the main items and pack the promotion items. You can see the assigned job to orders on the Order Operations screen and how their statuses are updated.
Screen Path: WMS → Operations → Order Operations
You are ready to manage the promotion items with or without picking process now!
You can follow the promotion item's pack tasks using the warehouse task processing screen.
Screen Path: WMS → Operations → Warehouse Task Processing
P.S: Regardless of whether a loc or an LP is scanned on the packing station, promotional items are eligible to be packed. So the location where other items are picked to does not affect the promotional items packing stage.
What If My Order Is Canceled?
The system does not take promotion/insert items into consideration when a cancel request comes to Logiwa. The system checks only products that are purchased by customers. Here is the article that informs you what happens to orders if they are canceled. Please click the link and get much more detailed info about it.
